Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 17, 2026

1. Introduction

Fumiq ("we", "our", "us") is a desktop application for exploring and managing message queues. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Data We Do Not Collect

Fumiq is a desktop application. The following data is stored exclusively on your local device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

  • Connection strings and credentials
  • Message content and metadata
  • Queue, topic, and subscription data
  • Application settings and preferences

We have no access to your messaging infrastructure or the data you manage through the Software.

3. Data We Collect

We collect minimal data, limited to what is necessary for the operation of the Software:

Update Checks

The Software periodically contacts our update server to check for new versions. During this process, the following data may be transmitted:

  • Your current application version
  • Your operating system and platform
  • Your IP address (automatically included in the request)

This data is not stored or used for any purpose other than delivering updates. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in providing a secure and up-to-date application (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Payment and License Data

Payments are processed by our online reseller Polar.sh, which acts as the Merchant of Record for all purchases. Polar collects and processes your payment information, billing address, and email address in accordance with Polar's Privacy Policy.

We may receive limited information from Polar, such as your email address and license status, to manage your license. The legal basis for this processing is the performance of our contract with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

Email Communications (Website Signups)

When you download Fumiq from our website, we ask for your email address. We process the following data for this purpose:

  • Your email address
  • The platform you selected for download (e.g., macOS, Windows, Linux)
  • The date and time of submission

We use this data to deliver a short welcome email, to contact you once around the end of your 30-day trial to ask how it is going, and to send occasional product updates about Fumiq. We will never sell your email address, and we do not use it for advertising by third parties.

The legal basis for this processing is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), given when you submit the download form. You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the one-click unsubscribe link included in every email, or by emailing support@fumiq.app. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

This data is processed on our behalf by Loops, our email service provider, which is based in the United States. Transfers outside the European Economic Area are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as referenced in Loops's Data Processing Addendum. We retain this data until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

4. Analytics

Fumiq does not currently collect any analytics or telemetry data. If we introduce analytics in the future, it will be strictly opt-in, and this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly before any data is collected.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of third-party processors. None of them receive access to your connection strings, messages, or queue data:

  • Polar.sh: payment processing and license validation. Based in the United States. See Polar's Privacy Policy.
  • Loops: email delivery for welcome emails, trial follow-ups, and product updates when you sign up through our website. Based in the United States. See Loops's Privacy Policy.

We do not use any advertising networks, social media trackers, or other third-party data processors beyond the ones listed above.

The Software itself connects directly to your messaging infrastructure (e.g., Azure Service Bus) using credentials you provide. These connections are made from your device and do not pass through our servers.

6. Data Retention

Since we do not collect or store your application data, there is nothing for us to retain. Any data stored locally on your device remains under your control and can be deleted by uninstalling the Software.

Payment and license data held by Polar is subject to Polar's data retention policies.

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we process:

  • Access: request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification: request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure: request deletion of your personal data
  • Restriction: request that we limit processing of your data
  • Portability: request your data in a portable format
  • Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@fumiq.app. We will respond within 30 days.

For payment-related data, please contact Polar directly, as they are the data controller for that information.

8. Children's Privacy

Fumiq is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Software after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

10. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Netherlands. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) if you believe your data protection rights have been violated.

11. Contact
